There is the link to the last version before the corruption happened. I was able to recover some of the drawing, but I still lost a nights work. What causes things like this? Is it recoverable?

Hi,

are You on Windows or MAC?

On Windows before doing anything else do a backup of local cache:

1. in Windows explorer go to %appdata%\Autodesk

2. copy all from this directory to some other safe directory on Your computer

In Folders You should be able to locate strangely named files ending with .f3d

These are Your models created on Your machine.

I am working in windows. I as not able to find any .f3d files In those directories. I am running a search on my C drive now.

What typically causes a corruption like this?

Hi,

based on the file You posted to the thread our modelling experts were able to identifify the problem the 60wLaser design.

There is 1 corruputed subassembly which I removed from the file and it's possible to open it.

I sent You a private message. I don't want to post Your design to the forum.

Regards,

Alex

Once You get the fixed file You can use this workflow:

Maybe You know it, I'm posting it because it could be benefical also to others.

1. download the "60wLaser_fix.f3d" Your local drive.

2. In Fusion or on A360 Upload the file. Choose any target location in your Project.

3. After a while You should see the "60wLaser_fix.f3d"  with the preview in Fusion Dashboard panel. (try to refresh the panel if necessay)

4. Now RMB on the "60wLaser_fix.f3d" in Fusion Dashboard pane and choose "Create Fusion Design"

CreateFusionDesign.png

5. After a while You will see second file "60wLaser_fix.f3d"  with small grey cube icon.

6. now open this newly converted design
