Convert top level assembly into a component

It is often the case that I get overexcited when opening up a new Design and I just jump right into making a sketch and bodies and design a whole component before remembering to create a new subcomponent first. It is likely that I'll want a few components at some point so now my first design is locked up at the original design level.

Is there a way to take the entirety of my timline and just move it into a component within the current design? so that the top level assembly is now empty except for that component and all of the work I have done is in the component?

Hi,

Go to the beginning of the timeline, create and name a new component.
Then move the cursor to the end and drag & drop (inside browser) the desired elements into the newly created one.

Hmm. This doesn't appear to funciton like this. I cannot drag items from the timeline and drop them into a component in the timeline. They just land before or after depending on where the 'I' cursor shows up either side of the component item.

I should clarify in the original post that I open a new design and there are no Components within it, just sketches and bodies. If I make a new component as the first item in the timeline, I don't seem to be able to subsequently drag existing top level sketches and bodies into it on the timeline or the heira

Not in the timeline > Browser!

NEW Screencast added!

Note: Body follows sketch!
