Convert image to dxf file

I used Inkscape to convert a clip art (jpg file) to a dxf file by using the trace bitmap function and then saved as a dxf file, when I view this in f360 it's an image. I want to make this a true dxf file for laser cutting.

I've attached a screen grab

I'm using f360 2.0.8560 and windows 10

You screen capture is not an image, it is a sketch showing a profile.  The browser name may be Image but it is showing up as a sketch.   If you attach your file, the forum users can verify for you.

Then select the sketch that does hold the blue shading,

with Right Click, on the name in the Browser, in that Menu, is Save as DXF.

Might help.....

If you wanted to attach the DXF file, it will have to be zipped.  I expected for you to attach the Fusion 360 file (.f3d) you showed in your first post.  You can probably just follow @davebYYPCU post to get what you want.  I am bit confused, if you already have a DXF file why do you need another one?

That error is because you are trying to save the File, as DXF,

You can only extract the sketch as dxf.  But as John said, you don’t need Fusion, to get a Laser to cut the Inkscape dxf.

Might help...

Ok thanks, obviously CAD is not my day job, noob here...at one point I opened one of the saved files (from my attempts at this) in eDrawings and nothing was visible so I presumed my conversion didn't work.

Appreciate the responses
