Construction/3D points disappear

Hello,

I got the precise same problem, that is described in the following link.

https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/fusion-360-design-validate/construction-3d-points-disappear/m-p/78630...

Is there any explanation to this behaviour now?

best regards

Hi,

This issue is not fixed, and very likely will never be fixed. It is "as-design". For performance reasons Fusion uses the bounding box of the model objects to draw the grid and scale the "dome" around the scene. When objects like points fall outside the scene, they may not be visible. The workaround is to put in a proxy object that forces the scene to scale to include the points.

Here is the comment from the graphics architect:

"...the reason is when computing the bounding box for the scene, we didn't include these sketch points because they are regarded as "screen space" objects(they have the pixel scale attributes). In this particular model, it seems that there is no any body object. As such, the size of the grid is actually pretty small and all these sketch and construction points are floating outside the grid/ground plane and dome. It seems to me that this is a pretty unusual case. Actually the user who reported this issue also agreed that this is not a real bug. See his reply in the forum:

"Wow I guess it's not a bug after all! I was just only working with points and dimensions, so the grid had no way of knowing to enlarge itself, as it would if I had but even used sketch lines.
All is well Smiley Wink

The original post is here if you wish to review all the conversation:

So can you tell me a little about your workflow? I take it you are using points spread out in space, but with no model body anywhere to increase the grid (and thus the viewing area). I'm glad to help you find ideas to make it work for you.

Thank´s for the reply. The explanation satisfied.

We already got out of the "dust". For various reasons we created the points in a bloated design to be exported into a "clean" design, which acts as a data source for a script which creates the geometry we need based on those coordinates. In this clean design we have just the points leading to the here described behaviour.
