Constraining midpoints of lines

Is there any other easy way to constrain a lines midpoint to be coincident with another line (not midpoint) without putting a point on the line first? or having to create 2 separate ones that are constrained equally to each other?

Hi,

Yes you can constrain the mid-point of one line to anywhere on another line. HOWEVER

this will not Fully Constrain the sketch. You will need some other way to constrain the line

or it will slide along the second line. You can start by dimensioning the length of the first

line by length or parameter to lock down the length. You then need to lock something else

down. This may be an end point, an angle to some other fixed line or something else.

Fully constraining the sketch is the end goal. If it can move or rotate or anything similar

it is NOT constrained, and that means that fusion may have to "guess" your intent later

that may cause unrecoverable errors.

Cheers

Use the coincident constraint. After picking the coincident constraint pick the line then hold the shift button down and hover over the midpoint of the second line and the midpoint will highlight.

Thank you. It was holding down shift to access a midpoint I didn't know.

As a note for others in the future you must be using a command before you can find the midpoint while holding shift.
