Constrain distance to outer rectangle

Hi all,

this is my second day using Fusion 360 and the first time ever using a CAD Software and I am still trying to figure out how this all works 🙂 I have a rectangle within a rectangle and I would like to define the distance on one side of the rectangle to the parallel side of the outer rectangle. I tried to use the horizontal/vertical constraint but it won't let me. How can I do this? I attached a screenshot, the yellow part is the distance I would like to define...

Your help is much appreciated!

Just add a dimension?

If you want the rectangles centred you could add a vertical constraint between midpoints.

Select the vertical constraint, hold the shift key down, hover the pointer near the middle of a line until the midpoint is found and pick. Repeat for the other rectangle. Also please don't attach pictures, just paste them into your message from the clipboard.

Thank you so much, that's exactly what I was looking for, sorry this might have been a very straight forward task but as I am new to fusion I'm still finding my way around 🙂

Hi,

I would also like to point out that, as @HughesTooling wrote, pressing and holding the shift key is important in the first method.
