Consistent Fusion Crash Using Offset Plane

Since the Fusion update I have not been able to work with offset planes. The program crashs when creating the offset plane or when I start to sketch on it. Anyone else experiencing this?

This may not be totally related to working on an offset plane. I tried to work on the main assembly plane instead of the component plane and Fusion crashed when I started to sketch.

I am feeling like a beta tester so far with this new build of Fusion.

New design- selecting plane to sketch on - Fusion crashes.

Fusion 360 is completely unusable for me at this time.

Can we roll back to the previous version?

Opened older model to try and see if I could work there. Selected plane to sketch on and the program crashed.

Not sure what else to try to be able to work in Fusion. Even rebooting the computer does not help.

Don,

Thanks for always sending in CER reports. We have a lot to go on. Some variety of graphics elements may be causing this and also so far I only see you and one other user in these buckets so while we investigate let's get you up and running.

Your graphics driver is about a year old. Update your driver to the one released on August 31, 2015.

http://www.geforce.com/drivers

If that doesn't help, try this:

Preferences > Graphics Driver DX9.

Please let us know how it goes.

Thanks,

Hi Phil,

Updated drivers and it still crashes.

Where is?

If that doesn't help, try this:

Preferences > Graphics Driver DX9.

Thanks for checking that first.

Look in the dropdown under your name:

Screen Shot 2015-09-20 at 12.21.26 PM.png

It's on the first page of preferences. You should restart Fusion after that.

If it keeps crashing you can try reducing graphics effects, look under the ?Help menu for Graphics diagnostic.

Until we know better, I'm assuming it's graphics related. You could also try using Orthographic camera, a different environment, etc. Sorry but it is Sunday. We do have engineers currently looking at this, but may now know more immediately. Thanks for your help diagnosing this, we really want to get you up and running ASAP.

Regards,

I found the location to changes the preferences. I did so and the program still crashes when trying to sketch on a plane.

Hi Phil,

I've played around with all the visualzation settings and I am still experiencing the crashes when I go to sketch on a plane.

I don't think this is graphics related as I had no problems until I did the update to new Fusion version this morning. Hopefully you can find something else to check or can offer a fix. As I said early this issue makes Fusion useless to me at this point.

Got it. I only suggested those things because often this might be the case and it's easy for the user to run down a check list that might get them running again.

Please be assured this is being investigated at a high level, we will have more followup once some engineers have had time with it. If it's okay, may we email you personally if there are more details needed?

Again, apologies and thanks for your patience right now.

Thanks,

Phil

Hello Don,

I had some weird things going on after the update also so I uninstalled Fusion 360 and restarted my computer and then reinstalled the app.

Seemed to take care of my problems, not sure if it would help you but you might want to give it a shot.

In this particular case that is not bad advice.

Before you do can you grab some logs for us? Use the Diagnostic Log Files tool under the ?Help menu.

If you do uninstall, please observe the full uninstall instructions posted on the README page.

Thank Phil P.,

Reinstall did the trick, as long as I followed the uninstall instructions.
