Components with same name

Pretty sure it's not possible to have components with the same name in a design - probably fine. But with the workflow where you want to create a component that is nothing but a group for other components I've hit an annoyance.

I want to create a component called "Assets" where I put all my external designs that are used in the design, and also to create a component called "Components" where all the parts of the main design is. Like this:

All fine and it gives an order to the design. The problem emerge when I paste this design into another design with the same setup. Now I have two "Assets" and "Components", and the pasted design gets "(1)" added to the name:

(The way I design I use "Paste new" for external designs as I use GitHub for my projects and not A360.)

A mild annoyance. I understand that Fusion 360 want to keep track of the components by not having multiple with the same name, but as used here the component is not a component, but a group or folder or whatevere where the name itself is not important except as a description of its content.

Is there a feature today that can group component together like this where the name will be left alone, or maybe this is something for a feature request?

Change "Components" to "Parts" or "MyComponents".  Why would you want to use name which Fusion 360 is using?  Are you just trying to confuse yourself😀

p.s. It doesn't matter which name you use.  If the same name already exists in the file, then the index number will be added to the name.

Because "Components" are a well know word in the english dictionary describing "a part or element of a larger whole", it's not some special word for F360 alone. Also I'm not confused. And no matter what wording I choose it would still get the indexing I'm trying to avoid simply because it adds clutter to a perfectly human readable system that a non human like F360 seems to be confused by.

I doubt very much that Autodesk will change the naming convention anytime in the near (or far future), so the change will need to be on your end.  There are plenty of synonyms for 'components' which you could use.  If you don't like the indexing, then changing the name when you insert the component can remove the index.

TLDR: While it might be necessary for a single component to have a unique name, there is a need for a group of components to be able to have non-unique names - to avoid lots of indexes that have no meaning at all.

You are missing the point when it comes to using the name Components - this is not even remotely where the issue is. I have no problem with me or F360 using the name Component whereever. I can tell the difference and F360 doesn't know any better. F360 used Components first and I just didn't find any better wording for grouping the components of my designs.

The problem is that with the indexing, and with complex design that have many more designs included, the index will keep snowballing. And still just a minor issue, but for the naming of a Component that is nothing more than a set of sub-components, there really is no need for the index and I would rather just not have it indexed - if F360 had folders this would be spot on what I wanted. Why use a Components if all you want to do is group other Components?

To sum it up, a Component should have a unique name, but a group of Components should be allowed to have non-unique names.
