Component Update

I have a problem with Fusion indicating that some components are out of date, yellow triangle at the top, but with no indication in the browser of where the problem is located. The assembly only consists of 6 parts of which two of these parts are a sub assy. I have been through every part and sub assy to check that they are saved and up to date (several times) but the triangle remains, unable to update the model (see attachment). The assy does contain three variable dimensions accessed through the "change parameters" function, I have checked all of the variables and they all match up. This assy is a sub assy (12 off) in another assy, each time I try to update the main assy the system siezes up and I have to force quit. I am becoming desperate as this is now affecting the last 6 months work. Any help please. Gordon

Do you have any Link features anywhere in the timeline?

No need for panic yet!

Your browser tree is not completely folded out. For example cour assembly Base contains a subassembly Pocket base. Pocket base may contain a linked component, but you cannot see it becasue it is not completly expanded.

However, you don't have to update all out-of date components individually. In the top menu line you can see a yellow warning traingle on top of a chainlink. If you click on it it will provide you with an option to update all out of date components/assemblies.

If you click on the link symbol in the timeline, it will highlight the componentt/assembly in the browser. If it's deeper in the structure you'll only get the blue dotted breadcrumbs in the browser and have to manually unfold the struture to get to the actual component/assembly.

It does seem that that is where my problem lies but when I click on the links in the time line no blue dotted breadcrumbs show up to point the way. I have manually expanded the browser but still no indication of where the update is required. The links in the timeline refer to dowels which I removed from the model part way through the design, can I delete this reference in the timeline? Clicking the triangle at the top level suggests I have to move down the tree, but there is no other indicating triangles pointing the way.

I don't suppose you used remove to delete one of the components, because it doesn't remove the component from the design it just hides it. Also do any of the linked components have link components as well see this thread.

This looks like it could cause trouble, all the components you've used remove on are still in the design. I think you'll have to suppress the removes and see if you can identify with linked design is the problem. Also you could try using delete instead of remove as long as you don't get any warnings.

Here's an example of the problem. With the linked part Removed it doesn't show in the browser.

After suppressing the Remove the liked part and the yellow triangle show.

It would be useful it the triangle showed on the link in the timeline!

Cheers, you have pointed me to the problem, deleting does show warnings but I am going to have to work round that. What it does tell me is to be more structured in the future. Triangles in the timeline would have been useful

Glad to see your issue was resolved.

Regarding showing the yellow triangles in the Timeline, might I suggest posting that idea to the Fusion IdeaStation if you like?
That way people can vote on it and it would get better visibility.

Here is the link to IdeaStation: https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/ideastation-request-a-feature-or/idb-p/125

Thanks.

I have a similar issue but with a file with no components, no linked files, no breadcrumbs, just bodies and an annoying yellow triangle. This is affecting a file I want to insert this part into. I will admit the workflow is not ideal because of things I was working out in the process. This file is actually a "save as" from another part which does not have any issues.

Do I need to start a new topic?

Hi Deb

Recently I have had the said triangle indicating a “get latest” is required, but on opening the offending part, no breadcrumbs or triangle are evident and a save is not required.

To get over the problem I have made a small modification to the part or assembly, like adding a small chamfer, fillet or changing a hole dia and then changing it back. This allows a save to the part or assembly, which on most cases has allowed me to clear the offending triangle through to the top level. There is obviously a bug in the system that does not always pick up the updating process. Another similar problem I have had is that a window in the bottom right hand corner tells me that I am not using the latest version, so the software manager will retrieve the correct version for me, but it never does. I go through the same process as described above and eventually it clears.

Hope that helps, if I have got hold of the wrong end of the stick, let me know.

Regards Gordon
