Complex Shape Fails to Extrude

Good Evening

I am creating a cutting board. The elements include carving text, cutting an inner groove and cutting out the shape.

As a starter I have been unable to extrude the board shape, (complex shape), which in turn means I cannot carve the sauce groove and cannot carve the text. A real Mess.

Please advise as to where I went wrong.

I tried with the attached f3d, I am able to extrude the sketch.
