Combining Two Objects and Filling Gaps

I have two objects that I'd like to combine into a single object. I want to preserve the external envelope and obliterate any internal space between them. I'm having trouble eliminating the internal space where the two parts form a hinge. The geometry is irregular. Combine cut using a enveloping box formed a negative impression within the box. That seems like the right track, but not sure how to get what I'm after. Any help appreciated of course.

Hi,

So what you want to do is take these two bodies that are totally separate from each other and fusion glue them

together? Are they positioned in the correct place? Is the gap consistent? Do you want to move them together so that

they touch or fill the gap?

For what purpose do you want to do this? Are you trying to make a single 3d printable part?

Cheers

Hi,

So far I have created the negative mold to make the filler but I also am totally lost on how you would then go about

trimming it down to fill the hole. I have tried making surfaces and thickening them, press pull, merge, combine and a

number of other tools but the shape is too complex. I cannot get any of it to actually thicken or extend in any way

without getting geometry errors.

I think you may have to fabricate it the way it was intended - in two parts that are glued together.

Cheers

I have attached a model with the two bodies merged into one.  I am not sure what you mean by removing any internal space between them as I am sure, due to their shape, there are some open spaces.

Thank you. I was able to do this. I also tried using combine cut as a previous poster with the same "negative" result.  There is still space in the actual "hinge" area which I don't want.

Thanks for your efforts. I made a negative "mold" as well. All I need is a "fill" command! This is for 3DP. It's not the end of the world if I have to print it with the space.

Hi. The objects are in the correct orientation for combination. No, the gap is not consistent. It is for 3DP.
