How to design a dartjig body?

Hi there

I'm struggling to design a dartjig (fishing weight). When I sketch lines and loft them I'm unable to filet the edges to avoid sharp edges. I also tried to make it by modeling in form mode, but it turned out even worse.

I don't need the hook, nor anything embossed, just the body.

Can somebody help me?

Thanks for your post. But I don't know what you mean by "A360 has this already". This is my file. But I can't adjust it the way I want. E.g. I can't add filets to the edges.
That led me to the conclusion that there must be a better way to design it.

Any Advice?

Thanks for your reply. Unfortunately none of the answers really solved the problem. That's why I didn't mark them as solved. But I could somehow manage to adjust my drawing to an acceptable result.
I guess I just have to learn more how to use loft command and all the tricks with that. If anyone has a good tutorial I'd really appreciate it.

I had looked at the design you posted initially, but didn't have time to engage.

This is a deceptively simple design and lofting would usually be the right approach for arbitrarily curved surfaces.
However, what makes this challenging is that the only way to design this reasonably easily with lofts is to loft into a point which is not ideal. IN this case all three of the main surface lofts are into a point and that already makes this very challenging.

Then, the rear loft transitions from a crease up top to tangency at the bottom when mirrored.

Basically you'd have to fillet all edges in one go to make this successful, but that doesn't work. 

 

I recreated the shape using T-Splines (Forms). The process how I created this might not be self explanatory. If yu think it can help you, I'd be happy to create a screencast.

Here is another approach you might try.  IT uses pretty basic commands but when done parametrically it allows you to refine the shape easily by editing the profile sketches.  If starting from scratch, so measured photos from the three cardinal axis will allow for pretty simple creation of a body that you can then apply any fillets to.

 

  1. Create your sketches one axis at a time, don't bother drawing the whole profile, just get one side of, then you will mirror from that.

  3. Next we will create the lofts.  This method avoids the issue of lofting to a point.  we will do this in segments to eliminate any strange behavior.  here is an example of the upper rear quadrant.  for each lost we will use two profiles(Green and Yellow)from the first two sketches(Y and Z) and a guide rail shown  (red) the third sketch (x) as the guide rail.

    After creating the other four segments we mirror the resulting body and we have our finished baseline shape.
