Why did the tool selection area get changed?

I've seen the progression from a once, semi intuitive, simple design go to a jumbled up mess that takes 10x longer to select tools.

Why?

What was wrong with the old system that it had to be changed?

Why waste time changing something that pretty much worked?

Does anyone do "usability studies" ??

I have not been using Fusion long enough to know what the tool selection used to be like but I remember being very frustrated with having to enter the same tool with every new file. Until I found that if you save tools into the "tool library" you can access them for any file, no matter which folder the file is in. You can also click and drag tools that you have already added, into this tool library folder. Hope this makes it easier for you.

There is an option to use the old library manager in preferences. I haven't experimented with the new one, I have too much work to waste time on the new one at the moment.
