Chamfer- Distance and angle

Is there a way to choose the direction the distance is measured? Almost all the dwg I receive measure the distance along the length of the shaft not dia. The chamfer command wants the distance on axes of the dia. I have to trig the distance to put in the command.

Yep, this seems to be an unnecessary limitation. I'd add an idea to the Idea Station. It will get my vote!
