Cannot Move Sketch Plane for Redefine Sketch Plane

I cannot move a sketch plane using the "Redefine Sketch Plane" process.

I am trying to create 2 sketches, separated by a distance. Thus I can, for example, sketch 2 rectangles in 2 separate sketches on the XY plane. Now I want to separate these by a distance Z (in preparation for lofting).

>  I have right selected one of the sketches in the Browser and I see "redefine sketch plane"  in the dropdown.

>  I select this and get a pop-up asking me to select the sketch plane.

>  I show my "origin" and select the plane using the OK on the dropdown.

And that is it--I was expecting a panel to appear asking what Z offset I need but I don't see this. So I cannot offset the sketch/plane.

I looked about here and on the web but no cigar- Any help appreciated

thanks  Fritz

Create an offset plane first, then redefine the sketch plane to the new plane.

OK-i have a sketch and the first rectangle.

Now-per your instructions, I need to create an offset plane--how do I do this?

Just select one of the Origin planes and set the distance.

Please remember the sketch, you want to Redefine Sketch Plane, MUST exist after the Offset Plane you want to redefine to.

OK. If I open an "origin" I see the several cartesian planes.

Clicking on the XY for example does nothing. But if I right click I can get a dropdown and select "offset plane".

This works but it creates a new plane-a construction plane-instead of offsetting the one that I am trying to move. From here I  an sketch on it and then create a loft with other sketches.

Is this the correct way to do it then-with a construction plane?

thanks

Fritz

Yes.  You need to create the destination plane first if one doesn't exist.  Note: You can also use planar faces on a body as the destination plane.

@fsonnichsen

1. Drag Timeline Marker back in history before the sketch.

2. Create the Plane.

3. Roll the Timeline Marker forward and then right click on the sketch...
