can't get circular pattern to work

I'm trying to simulate a machining pattern on a part for representation purposes. The idea is the swirl that looks like jeweling. When I try it previews the way I want it but when I hit "OK" it turns into a partial pattern with voids.

Model example is attached with timeline.

Thanks in advance.

Hi @evanp4509U4JZ

Can you please provide more details?

May be an explanation through video or through an image?

Bases on my understanding, are you looking something like this?

Yes, something like that but without all the discontinuities. If you edit the pattern in the timeline and set the instances to 72 it previews it almost exactly as I want it. As soon as you hit "OK" it turns into the garbage it gave me and you in the example.

Unless it is my computer and on your end there aren't missing segments and the occasional straight line.

No photo. If you edit the pattern in the file with 72 instances it previews as I would like it. Once you hit "OK" it turns to junk like the example in the file.

Hi @evanp4509U4JZ ,

What's your end goal?  are you looking to actually produce something?  render something?  what's your target?

hope this helps,

Is the image below the design intent?

jeweling cut.jpg

Extrude 2 must be the full circle, the partial extrude you hade did leave some strange geometry due to the angle of the body, and that made the circular pattern fail.

Changed Move2 from Free Move to Rotate (makes the feature parametric and easier to change)

Purely to show the end result of the machining to present the product to the board. Is that renderring? I think it's renderring.

Awesome. Yes, exactly. Thank you very much.

How did you come to that conclusion? I zoomed in to look at the geometry created by the cut/combine and didn't see anything so I charged ahead to the patterning.

Thanks again.

Similar. The result in post 7 is what I was trying to create in this instance.

Thank you.
