Can't figure out how to add a shaped feature to the side of a cone

I'm working on a you, I'm sure someone here knows what it is, the ultimate goal is to use my new piece as a drop in replacement for the original piece on the toy but have a light and vent in it for special effects.

ANYway, the problem:

I'm trying to add the feature in the red outline to my drawing and can't figure out what to do, I have the profile of the bottom drawn in a sketch, but I can't figure out how to sketch the rails for a loft in 3D, which seems to be the option I need to use.

I'm worried that I'll have to go way back and possibly break something to do it right, the current model is a 3mm shell.

What am I missing that would make this easier? I have a feeling it may involve revolving the profile and cutting it out, but, again, how do I 3D sketch that profile?

Should I revolve the profile as a "new body" edit that, and then combine them?

Here is one way to do it, you can check the steps in the .f3d file attached.

Hi,

I haven't looked at the other suggested method in the file but here is how I might do it.

Have you tried sketching, extruding and otherwise creating the feature and then moving it to where you

want it? Then you should be able to duplicate it with a circular pattern in the correct place and then join

all of the bodies.

Cheers

Andrew

I love it, how do I make the right side vertical and the left angle into meet up with it? I attached the file for you to see what I'm working with and I do not expect you to do it for me, I see exactly where I could do what you are demonstrating, and I have the profile of the fins sketched at the very end of the timeline, but that one side being vertical is getting me as I don't understand how to ... would that be an offset?

You all made me think to try lofting, it didn't really work, but at least it kind of worked...

that one edge shouldn't be chamfered like the loft forced...

Here's one way to do it, although there are a few more sketches than it should need.
