Can't edit sketch

I created sketch (using projections) and capture history was off. Then when I turned capture history on, I can't edit the sketch.

I thought it was said that you could then not exit the base feature mode.
Perhaps I read it wrong. It has to be treated like traction control.
Understood.
Projecting all within a selection window would still be a time saver.
