Can't create web feature

I am an extreme newbie and keep running up against the same issue when trying to incorporate a web feature in my design.

I'm working on a simple box to hold M3 screws of various lengths. Inside the lid I want to create an embossed 5x2 grid with the screw sizes.

No matter what I try I get errors. Mainly "Error: The curve you are selecting does not intersect a solid body. Select another curve."

I've attached an export of the lid component and any guidance to what I'm doing wrong would be most appreciated.

Web is pretty useless really, seems like it was never finished. It will only work within a "Walled" in section like this.

temp2.pngI have an idea on the ides station for Thin Wall Extrude for this but a simple mod to the way Web works would give the same feature. Of course web needs draft angle as well.

A workaround is to go to the patch workspace and extrude surfaces then thicken. See attached file.

Hi Mark,

Thanks for taking the trouble to look at this and explaining web only works in a object with walls.

Before I saw your reply I ended up drawing the grid and the doing a offset on each line before doing a negative extrude on each square created by the grid.

It was a long and messy solution. I wish I had used your thin wall extrude and thicken.

Again thanks for taking the time. I'll certainly use your method in future.
