Can't change units for measure tool

The measurement tool displays measurements in millimeters regardless of the unit preferences selection.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Are you editing the units in the model browser or in the preferences?

Preference will change for new designs. The model browser will change the settings for the current workspace.

Does that help?

Thanks,

Ah, I see.  You can change the preferences all you like but the unit selection in the model tree (directly under "Named Views") determines the units used in the measurement tool.  I would suggest changing that to make it a bit more intuitive.

Thanks Nathan. I found that a second ago. The issue I still see is that the model was imported from an imperial system and my preferences were already set to "in".

Yea, when selecting "New Design" my preferences correctly set the units but when opening an uploaded file the units are defaulted to mm.

When uploading a file via the command located in the Data Panel, the resulting design does not reflect the settings in the Preferences for New Designs. Is that correct?

I know there are only the two spots to set the Units:

  • The Preferences dialog - for new designs
  • The Browser location - for the active workspace

I'm not sure that the upload command looks at what the preference settings are for a new workspace. I will have to check and get back to you. Thank you for the good question!

Cheers,

Yes, the unit preferences, regardless of where they are set, don't seem to be recognized by imported files.

For STEP files, Fusion has local translators. You can open up your Inch STEP files directly in Fusion and they will show Inch units.

Use File > New Design from File.
