Bumps on surface?

Hi,

(See image and file)

I have never seen this before.. On the image you can see bumps and also in the back you see the back surface coming up overlapping the top surface.

The bottom has bumps going in instead of out..

The model didnt have these things before..

The last thing I did was turning off design history to merge surfaces.

I guess that tool might leave some artifacts..

I dont know how to get rid of this. There are no edges or separate faces...??

Do you saved a file before turned off the design history?

How did you designed it to get bumps?

You can use intersection of two solids.

The problem is that my model isn't flat all the way like your extrude..

It has a small curvature in that direction to.

(Its based on a 3D scan)

I have made new models also but this one is for modeling parts to 3D print and pit on an existing real part so I just want to be as close to the original as possible..

If you want to be helped, you need to show how you created the part.

That is almost always a bad idea.

It is disappointing to have to ask someone with enough experience here on the forum to share the model. In this case for obvious reasons, we need to see a version of the model before using the "merge surfaces" function.

Hi,

Sorry for beeing slow in the response.. Its been a really busy week.

I found the model in its state before I have merged the surfaces..

(attached)

About turning off the design history... Its a must in this case!

You cant see the "merge surfaces" tool with history on..

Yes, I am fully aware of that. The question is: why would you need to merge the faces ?

I can only vaguely remember having this used once and it wasn't really needed!

On my machine/screen I don't see any bumps in the model! I am assuming what you are seeing are visual artifacts and your actual geometry is OK.

What you can/should try is to select the body or component in the browser, right-click and select "display detail control" and set that to fixed/high.

The reason I wanted to merge the faces was that I was having problems with the sweep tool.

I was trying to sweep a track all alone the edge that follows the angle of the front face..

normally you can just delete one face and it magically becomes one with the face next to it (sometimes)

however.. when doing that on this model it also changes in thickness..

thx for the info about the model looking ok on your machine.. I will check the settings later.

The problems with the sweep tool might have to do with how you are using it. Could you demonstrate that with a screencast ?

Also, the surfaces look fine to me, but the curvature of the outer edge looks pretty choppy. How did you create this object?

the warnings I got in sweep was just that.. the path was not even or something like that!

What analyze tool it that you use in the image?
