[BUGS] Filleting fails, UI glitch when creating primitives and copy/paste.

Here is another bug on a really simple fillet. A UI bug that is consistent across all the primitives in the create menu. And, again , canceling the copy/paste command actually does not cancel but compete it.

@TrippyLighting,

I was having a hard time reproducing the fillet problem.  See the screencast below.  Is there something special you did that is different?  This looks like a classing matching failure, so I believe it exists, but just need to figure out the steps to reproduce it.

On the primitive bug - that's a good catch.  I think I know how this happens (because there is a temporary sketch that is used for the circle for the cylinder/rectangle for the box, etc), and only the value is getting transferred to the sketch command itself.  I'll log that one and we'll fix it.

On the copy bug.  As you say, that is a known issue, and yes, it has not been fixed.  Too many things, unfortunately, are above it in priority.  We'll get to it...  The reason this bug exists is that we at some point added the move following the paste.  So, those show up as two separate undo events - the paste, then the Move.  So, by the time the Move comes up, the paste has already happened, so Cancel just cancels the Move.  We should fix it, of course, but that is why it happens.

Hi Jeff, first of all Thank you! for the quick response.

Attached is the demo file for the filleting bug.

I might be barking at the wrong tree here, but I am wondering what priorities that might be. Some bugs have been around for over a year and have not been fixed. Now, granted, the screencast I created to help the user in this thread discusses 2 bugs that are never recognized as bugs in that thread, but searching through the forum I've come up with a couple other threads reporting issues with the rectangular pattern tool.

 Editing suppressed instances works fine in the circular pattern tool.

The errors I am reporting in here this thread are not some high end features and I have a really hard time believing that these have not been reported before through other channels.

I've started collecting the bugs I report or come across and find others have reported. Some of them such as the copy/paste tool really are hindering the workflow. That stuff just has to work!

I've said this before and I say this again. I makes NO sense to me at all to add simulation and generative design when the core tools are so in need of some TLC.

@TrippyLighting

This is a classic example that I to fail to understand.....

There are people smart enough to add simulation, rendering, sheet metal to Fusion but they can't be re-tasked to fix bugs?

Autodesk has enough money to throw at new tools that only partially cover what is needed, but not to fix the bugs...and some bugs that have existed for a long time!

I to have asked over and over, what good are all these fancy tools when you can't model what you need to in the first place?

I spent over 20 hours over the weekend dealing with bugs and junk surface tools only to find that what I was working on can't be done in Fusion.

The current state of broken tools and half implemented functionality is becoming way to much of a pain to deal with day to day.

Fusion seems to only excel at modeling machine brackets and plates as long as you don't need a real fillet tool....

But hey what does it matter at least they are listening to their sales and marketing teams!

@jeff_strater

Thank you for explaining what code wise is happening under the hood - this explains well why it fails.

Things like this is why last semester in my Fusion design class we had literally with each project or demo those encountered

which impacted negatively how student perceive Fusion 360. I spend too much time on workarounds than using the time

to explain surfacing strategies.

I had quite often the situation that I needed to say that under normal conditions this is how the technology/tool should work.

I have to quite agree as an educator and professional with @TrippyLighting and @PhilProcarioJr that bug hunting should be priority number one.

Thanks, @TrippyLighting for the design.  Still haven't quite figured out what the magic sauce is that gets you to this, but the model clearly shows the problem.  I'll log that bug.

Any updates on this filleting bug ?

I've got this in another model as well. this time it shows OK in the preview and then the fillet actually fails complaining about missing edges.
