Browser access crashes Fusion 360 Ultimate and file management

Hi,

I'm now starting intense test to evaluate if it can replace our current 3D tools in our office.

I truly like Fusion 360 and I think that it has a great potential to be a tool that efectively replaces both our design and CAD tools, allowing us to work in a more integrated environment.

Nonetheless there's one aspect that I'm finding to be a very negative point of Fusion 360... the unstability of the browser.

Basicaly what's happening is that almost everytime I try to access the browser, Fusion crashes.

I already cleaned the cache data several times and also performed a couple of clean uninstall and install and the unstability of the browser remains.

I'm working on a brand new 5K iMac with 16Gb and a AMD Radeon R9 M295X 4096 MB graphics card.

Can you please give me some tips about how to solve this?

This issue is basically preventing me from recommending the adoption of Fusion 360 at my office.

Another questions that I'm facing is related with the cloud features of Fusion.

I understand the positive part of being able to store the files in a cloud for team collaboration but It's also crutial to be able to store the files in specific locations of my computer or in our company servers.

Is there a way to download the files to may computer?

Thak you in advance for your help.

Best regards,

Carlos

Hi Carlos,

In answer to your question:

In Fusion this is not possible in a way of a traditional desktop product. (this is current state - I'm not saying it will stay this way forewer)

You can export the files to desired location. (emphasis on the word "export" )

Hi Alex,

Thank you for your reply.

And what can you say about the stability of accessing the data panel?

Best regards,

Carlos

Could You please give me more details about the crashing workflow?

Does it crash right after You click the button to show the Side panel?

Or does it crash when You do something inside the Side panel?

And did You send the CER (the crash report) please? (if You send it multiple times, it's more likely to get fixed sooner)

Regards,

Alex

Hi Alex,

Most of the crashes happen when I click the button to show the side panel but it also crash when I open Fusion and the side panel is already open... the data panel appears blank and it seems to be doing some sort of refresh/update to the data and then I get the crash message. This happens over and over again.

I had this problems when I started testing Fusion on an older iMac and even thought that it was due to be using Fusion on an older machine that was short in hardware and RAM. But now I must confess that I'm extremely surprised with the unstability of such key feature of Fusion.

Can you share some tips to try to make this operation more stable until the bug is solved?

I already sent tons of crash reports and will continue to send them as I get more crashes.

Best,

Carlos

Hi Carlos,

I found Your reports ( based your name mac email ).

You are not alone with this particular problem on MAC.

Currently I do not have any quick hint for You to avoid the crash.

In your other thread Kris offered help to look at it

Hi Carlos,

Do you have a WACOM tablet device connected to your Mac machine? Can you please disconnect or disable it when you use Fusion? I suspect that the frequent crash problem you run into is related to that. There could be a potential compatibility issue between the WACOM driver and Fusion.

Please try it and let us know how it goes.

Thanks

Hi Chengyun,

I just sent an e-mail to Kris with the Diagnostic log file.

I can confirm that the stability of Fusion 360 without the Wacom intuos pro being connected has improved dramaticaly.

The problem is that I need my Wacom to work.

I already asked Kris for some tips to deal with this bug until it is solved but I also would love to have your thoughts if you have any tip that you can share.

Thank you once again for your help.

Best,

Carlos

I have the same problem (and i use Mac with Wacom Intuos tablet). I unchecked all options under the 'Data Collection and Use' panel in the Preferences dialog, than restart the application as Kevin suggested here:
http://forums.autodesk.com/t5/general-fusion-360-questions/mac-users-fusion-always-crashes-from-slee...
Maybe it is just a temporary solution, but now the F360 is happy with my Wacom tablet.

Hi @adam.molnar.1 ,

We have identified an issue with the Wacom tablet and are working on a fix.  The crash occurs when the side/data panel is transitioning from closed to open while using a Wacom tablet.  There is a workaround until the issue can be addressed.  When you are trying to bring up the side panel,  if you open the side panel using Ctrl+Alt+P on Windows and Alt-Command-P on Mac this should improve the issue.

We will let you know when we have a fix available.

Thank you,
