Book on Autodesk Fusion 360

Brian, There is no sheetmetal module in Autodesk Fusion so we have not added any chapter on sheetmetal in our book. Once they include the module in software, we will update our book accordingly.

While writing the book we used V 2.0.3174 Ultimate and now, V 2.0.3257 has been released which includes Sheet Metal as I can see now in my application. We will be providing a chapter on Sheet Metal on our website for free till we include it in our next version of book.

The colored book is printed in color and other book is black & white. Content wise they are same

Where can I see samples of pages of both versions of the book, B&W and Color? Amazon calls this "Look Inside". They usually show the index and a few representative page samples of the books they sell. I would also like to know where to look for your sheet metal chapter discussed above. Thank you. Mike

Why publish a paperback on a program that evolves so rapidly? Why not just create a digital version that can be updated/corrected quickly? This isn't like the old days where software is updated once a year using a disk. My guess is that you will get a lot more customers if it were a digital version that were updated every quarter or so since they update Fusion at least once a month.

Although I perfectly understand your point, a lack of books or any printed manual was one of the main obstacles on the way of learning the software. I know quite a few people (myself included) who stayed away from Fusion 360 for this particular reason.

Having an updatable .pdf would definitely be highly beneficial. But only in addition to good books. Yes, I know that .pdf can be printable, but still...

If we are talking about this particular book, I guess the author may consider giving an access to an updatable .pdf to those who bought the book. The updated parts should be printable. The rest can be left non-printable to prevent unauthorized copying.

A properly written paperback should be fine.

I have seen very little substantive change in Fusion over the past 3 yrs.

I think a book that is driven by a discussion of how to use a tool to solve problems can work even as the software gets updates. In my opinion, going through every command in sequence is not a good approach to teaching/learning and will definitely "break" when the interface/features change (which they do rather often with Fusion 360). From the sample, it looks like this book may unfortunately take the latter approach.

I guess our opinion of substantive is different. I consider the addition of the Mesh workspace, Sheet metal workspace, the numerous 2d drawing enhancements, 5 axis cam, etc etc all substantial. If I buy a hard copy of a book, I expect it to be accurate for more than a few months. Maybe that's just me.
