Best way to part chamfer a circular Protrusion

I am new to Fusion 360. 

I am  trying to add a partial slope/chamfer to a circular feature:

I am trying to cut away the piece with the yellow 

lines on it.

All the youtube videos seem to follow the circular edge

I have sort of managed it using a plane to make the cut

but this results in lots of side effects as the plane passes through the body of the part.

I'm sure this must be easy to do if you know how but I haven't been able to find it!

Thank you for your advice. 

This is how I interpreted your image.

First set up a plane through the centre of the protrusion.

Then Draw a sketch of the triangle on that plane 

Then extrude a cut in 2 directions from the plane

Hope that's close.

The main purple part was derived from a sheet metal part

Once I figured out how to get the plane in the right place with correct orientation the rest was easy.
