auto drawing from design fail

Hi,

I am new to the "full" version of Fusion, (although not Fusion), and have been trying the auto draw function. It seems to work well on some designs but a very very simple shaft or solid bearing, (a round bar with a hole in it), delivers the template but there is no drawing in it?

Any ideas?

I attache my logs just in case.

Hello @ianpmitchell ,

Can you please share the drawing file with me? before that I have few questions

  • Are you creating Auto drawing "From scratch" or using a template?
  • If you are using a template? is that a smart template ? or you are using a blank template i.e without any placeholder views?
  • There is a chance that when you use a blank template, if the browser has placeholder entry it will not output any views as this will be treated as placeholder without any views.

Hi Mohammed,

To answer your questions a bit of history.

I have been using Fusion for a very long time as a hobbyist.

The drawing Template I am using is one created before the restrictions were placed on Hobbyist functionality.

I decide to go back to the project but as I need to do a lot of drawings and CNC work so I decided to go for a years subscription.

I modified the drawing Template to add placeholders and generating center marks and centerlines.

here is a link to the Template - https://a360.co/3Tfs4Rq

Attached is a screenshot of the part and the resulting Automatic drawing.

Hello @ianpmitchell ,

I saw the template you created and its a template with assembly placeholder.

  1. For assemblies with only single component we don't add any assembly sheets, in fact with manual workflow as well you will see this behaviour as no smart sheets gets created, and you need to manually place the view
  2. For this to work, you can add the component sheets placeholder to your template or just remove the assembly view placeholder from the template.

Note : If placeholder views are used in the template, they are used instead of the drawing automation algorithm to place views. So you can create a template with placeholder views on how you want views to be added(in this case add a component placeholder in another sheet in your template) or just don't add any placeholder views and keep it blank. When you keep blank make sure there are no entries in Screenshot 2024-09-06 at 2.46.25 PM.pngScreenshot 2024-09-06 at 2.49.42 PM.png

Thanks!
