Auto dimension wont work correctly on opening

After starting a sketch the first dimension will highlight and can be accurately edited.

However when tabbing to the next dimension the ox will appear blue after I have written the desired dimension and after pressing enter it will revert to the original size.

After going back a second time and highlighting it will then accept the desired dimension.

Very frustrating.

Any ideas?

Is it possible that you work with W 7?
There the behaviour is known as a problem.
