Attach the tip!

Hello all,

I am excited to get back into the world of 3d modeling, I haven't used this software in over 15 years! I am having a little trouble trying to get the tip attached to my corkscrew. Making the tip was pretty tricky to begin with; but I was able to find some videos and posts to help. When I went to put it all together I must have missed something.

I started by making it as an extrusion from a body using the form tool. Then I went to utilities and converted it to a solid. Form here, I jointed it to the botom end of a coil and aligned it. I thought I would be able to join the two components together here as one but I am not having any luck.

Can someone please help me see what I am missing to combined these two as one. Thanks in advance!

The problem is that the little tip is a surface body and not a solid. To make it solid you need to patch the body in the surface environment and stitch the now two surface bodies together making one solid which can be aligned with the screw and joined.

Rule #1 is to make components but if you are planning to join them together into one body, I would make both bodies in one component and join them otherwise you have two components and one no longer has a body in it.

If you wouldn't have moved it you'd be fine 😉

I'd suggest going through some of the tutorials in the Learn & Support section.
