Assign material to a component to obtain mass property value

After doing the following step:

1- Upload STL files into a project in the cloud to obtain distributed components to assemble.

When assembling a model from distributed components:

A.  How do I get the geometric properties of Volume, COM, and inertia matrix for each component prior to assembly?

B.  How do I get the mass geometric property of a component?

B.1- Do I need to assign a material to the component(like PLA plastic) to obtain mass?

B.2- If so, how do I assign the material to a component?

B.3- Are PLA or ABS material included in materials selections options?

Are you sure you mean .stl  and not STEP ?

The .stl format is about the worst choice of data to be used in any CAD software.

A. Select 3D object in the browse or viewport, right-click on it and select Properties.
B. Same thing.

 B1. Yes, obviously!

B2. Select 3D object in the browse or viewport, right-click on it and select Physical material.

B3. No, Yes. Can easily be added by a user.

Hi Sujay,

1- How does a user easily add a physical material to the Fusion 360 library?

2- How does a user easily add an appearance material to the Fusion 360 library?

It works the same way in both cases. You duplicate an existing similar material or appearance and then edit its name and setting and then add them to your favorites.

Who is Sujay ?
