Assemblies help needed

Hello,

I have completed a few parts now in Fusion 360 and I am attempting my first assembly here and have run into a problem.  This is for a machining application.  I have created 2 of the parts in the file and the 3rd is the angle plate which I dragged in.  Now I want to modify the fixture but I don't know how to access the sketches for it.  All I see are the sketches for the part (pp arm, right).

The timeline has now been condensed and I can't roll back it back.  I get an Error "Slider bar cannot be rolled before the active component."  Also the fixture has become transparent.

Here is a link to my assembly file.

Any help would be great!

hi @Anonymous,

It looks like the issue is that you have activated one of the components (or parts) in the asssembly. You can go back to your complete assembly by right clicking on the top level assembly in the browser and choosing "Activate". You can also Activate the Top level assembly (or any other component) by clicking the radio button that comes up to the right when you hover of the name of the component/sub-assembly.

Activating sub assemblies is typically used to narrow in on the parts you are working on. All other components tend to become transparent when one specific component is activated.

Also, looking at your assembly, the Fixture and the PP arm, right are still bodies. You will need to right click on these and convert them to components to be able to apply joints or build toolpaths for these parts. I hope that makes sense. You will have to convert them one at a time and simple right click on the Body and choose "Create Components from Bodies" to make the change. Then you should be good to go.

I hope this helps,

Hello sachlene.singh,

Thank you for explaining this to me and I understand about activating the different components now.  I would still like to edit the sketches in this fixture that is apart of this assembly but I don't know how.  I have activatated the first item or top level and I can now see the timeline.  When I go to the timeline and and right click sketch16 or edit sketch16 from the browser none of the sketches are visable to change.  Also when right clicking Extrude16 to edit profile sketch the sketch mode turns on but I do not see any of the sketches.

How do I make it so I can edit the sketch?

Thanks again for your help.

@Anonymous

The sketches are not visible because their visibility is turned off in the browser on the left. There is a folder called sketches and then the 16 sketches within it. You will have to make sure that the visbility of the sketches folder is toggles on (by clicking the light bulb to the left of it) and that the visbility of the sketch you want to see is on as well.

Let me know if that fixes the problem.
