Animation for Exploded View Completely Unusable

In the past, I've consistently used animations to make exploded views. Simply drag the component, add a trail line, save, and then add to a drawing. Now, the components are rearranging themselves into random positions and the trail lines seem to go to the origin instead of where it started in the animation. I've added a video as an example. This has never been an issue for me before. Did something change? I have no recourse for making drawings now.

Trail line snapping to the origin and components rearranging usually stem from corrupted storyboard keyframes or desynchronized workspace updates. To fix this and cleanly restore your drawings, try clearing the animation cache or creating an Exploded View Configuration in the design workspace.

As it turns out the best fix is to change something in the model, revert it back to the way it was, then save the model. The animation is then  updated which restores it. I have to now use this for the drawings every time I close them. I have immense disappointment in the need to constantly employ hacks like this for features that should baseline be functional in a product sold by a multibillion dollar company.
