Is it possible to make a selective section analysis ? I think for motion study it is very useful being able to make cut-away of one part only like for example the block of a piston engine while leaving the rest of the parts inside unaffected.

Hi Mr Szalczynski,

It would be a very welcome functionality. However, it is not possible in the current Section Analysis implementation.

You can remedy the lack of the feature in the following way:

  1. activate the component of interest
  2. find a body/bodies, a "section analysis" to be performed on
  3. copy the body/bodies in place
  4. cut/slice/modify the body/bodies as required
  5. change appearance(s)  of the resulting bodies or their faces as per your aesthetics
  6. make the original body invisible (possibly also unselectable) or just change its transparency/appearance
  7. repeat the above on redundant bodies from operation described in points (4. and 6.)
  8. activate the root component
  9. run your simulation/animation/rendering

Hence, some efforts are required, but there is also a chance of a substantial gain in such an approach.

If a technical creature performing such steps can also have artistic acumen (not so common combination), the result can be visually stunning

Are you willing to check yourself?  Not to many CAD software could give you such opportunity,... but F360 does free of charge!
