Although it is posibble to align the Model view to a face with Lookat it is not posibble to align the 2D drawing to a component face.
It is impossible to create a working drawing normal to the fadce of an assembly component that is placed off of the world axis. A simple geometric transformation based on the Lookat matrix would solve this.
There is a way to do what you are looking for. First select the face you want to be the custom view and then use look at. Next right click on the house next the the view cube and select set current view to home. Now you can create a drawing and pick "home" from the pull down view options.
