Align or ?

I am trying to align a body/component to another body that has location features I need it to align too.  However they will not work when I try to align it.    The surface of the part I am fixturing is curved, they surface I am trying to align to is also curved in the form of a dowel pin.  Is there a way to do this without losing my sanity?

Try a Joint between the centre of the jig and centre of the part face,

the pins work in real life, as a slide Joint and contact set, to make it a bit more complicated.

Welp, I tried to do it again how I was attempting to, and it worked.  Not sure why I can now get it to work. but hey it works lol

How would i do this without un aligning from a previous alignment?
