Adding a Prusa 3D printer to Meshmixer

I do my design work in Fusion 360 and have been using Cura to create my gcode. Someone recommended I try Meshmixer. The list of pre-installed printer parameters there is pretty small & I can't find any guidance on setting one up from scratch. Has anyone set up a Prusa i3 MK2S? any particular issues?

I have a prusa mega and really iirc I was able to use the Mendel.. I think they use the same control boards..

I never got any help so I gave up on mesh mixer & went with other software.

I just sat down and created one myself. maybe this'll help whoever runs across this thread next time. I'm not actually 100% sure about the datadir thing, but it was in the args in the slic3r shortcut. print button works so good enough.

Can you tell me the meaning of the command line arguments ? 

I haven't found any information about command line arguments. 

I don't know if I just can copy this line from you, or should adjust something to my printer ... but I would like to know the meaning of the command? 

What does --Datadir mean/do and what does Slic3r Mk3 214 mean (I know Slic3r is the program, ... but is the whole bunch a file or a specific command ? Where does 214 stand for?)

I just copied it off the shortcut args, if I had to guess, datadir is probably where slic3r profiles/settings for the machine are located. at least that's what it looks like according to the chatter on the forums. 214 is either a build number or referencing the size of the build plate, the former sounds more likely.

Hi, please help me if you may 🙂  I normally open Meshmixer and add Original Prusa i3 MK3 and everything is good but every time when i turn off meshmixer and turn on again I must again add 3d printer! Is this bug or what ??

I gave it a try with the latest slic3r/meshmixer, couldn't replicate issue.

I went entirely through the in-process workflow(fusion-> 3D Print -> Send to 3D Print Utility -> [x] meshmixer -> Print -> Send to Prusa Slic3rPE) so  ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

might have to change the Printer Profile in meshmixer to reflect the changes in the newer slic3rpe setup(no datadir). sounds like it's not saving the printer pref wherever meshmixer stores its data normally. might try opening up meshmixer on it's own and setting up the printer, closing mm, then opening mm back up to verify that any changes at all persist.

I must always add again Original prusa i3 mk3 printer in Meshmixer, every single time when reopen meshmixer. I think that is some kind of bug because everything works great besides what not remmember added custom printer. Can anyone have the same problem and how I can fix them?

I have the same issue but only on 1 computer. I'm trying to work out what the difference is. 1 computer remembers, the other doesn't.

Is the width and height correct? The look like they are swapped.

I had the exact same problem: ADD printer would not save, every time I opened Meshmixer I got the same default list.

SOLUTION: in C:\Users\*USERNAME*\Documents\meshmixer\printers there is a .xml list of printers: DELETE this file. Open Meshmixer, add your printer: this prompts Meshmixer to write a new file (as it can't find the deleted one), saving your printer.

This must be a bug, but seeing as I only own 1 3D printer...not a big problem, just wasted an hour to figure that out.

I really wanted to open my models from Meshmixer directly in PrusaSlicer.
To solve this problem, you need to write the path to the .exe file as in my screenshot.

Adding a printer I found that if you go into any printer and( edit )not add it by pressing the edit button in the printer preferences by editing a printer will not change the printer that you're editing, but we'll permanently add a printer I did my Prusa MK3S

There is a better solution to this. The original printers.xml is "readonly" by default, which prevents it from being updated.

You can right-click this file, click preferences and untick the readonly box. Then click apply and close. Now all edits and added printers wil be saved in that xml file.
