This isn't really an answer to your question, but I prefer to avoid the browser whenever possible. I prefer to double click what I want to work on, then right click to bring up the same menu you would get in the browser. There is where I click activate as well as isolate. I find it to be faster than looking for things in the browser.
On a second note, I have problems with the browser when my component names get too long, and the browser window is too narrow for them. That's when the light bulb moves around when you hover over a name. This is fixed by expanding the width of the browser, but then you lose screen real estate. I think that's another reason I prefer double clicking everything.
