3D geometry projection issues -

Hi - 

Trying to do some relatively simple surface blend patches between to faces to create a smooth transition between surface bodies. PROBLEM: trying to "Include 3D Geometry" from adjacent edges and faces results in super buggy and disconnected corners and lines at a micro level. Extremely frustrating 2 days have been spent trying to accomplish this when other softwares do it in 2 min. I have to manually zoom in and "break link" on each line, then manually connect each corner or intersection in order for the surface patch tool to work properly. AUTODESK - Can you PLEASE improve the surface tools! - Add things like "close loop" for sketch geometry, or automatically close the geometry when projecting the edges from already manifold or solid shapes.

Projections are estimates.

Based on the info supplied, why would you need any of those purple lines?  

Project the two points you need for the spline, and then patch from the body edges.  You will have better connection options to choose from.

I was trying to use the patch tool which needs a watertight fence of lines. Then use another sketch (not shown) as the guide or rail lines to keep the patch smooth and not balloon out at the edges. After some discussion with tech support, it seems that using 3d projected geometry is not a reliable functioning set of tools. Lofting is perhaps has a quicker and more reliable outcome. Thanks for your thoughts!

You might like to show me how to loft that object, with or without the rail sketch.

can you share the design, and indicate which edges or faces you projected to create this sketch?  Sometimes gaps in the sketch are a result of "tolerant" geometry, where there is low precision, and the resulting gaps in the sketch are just a reflection of that lack of precision in the source.  Was the source from imported geometry?
