3D CURVE TO 2D CURVE LOFT

I cant figure out how to get a surface connecting the two tops of the model.  been looking and trying thing on youtube and no luck at all....

Is this the type of thing your talking about?  Here I copied the faces with the "offset" tool set to a zero offset so there would be edges for the loft.  You could also delete the interior faces to expose those edges also. This is a work around.  It should work by to just select the interior faces as profiles, but doesn't for some reason.  couldn't get the loft tool to think of those as a single continuous path.  There are lots of little weird edges in there for some reason.
