2D Drawing

Hi,

This is my first time using Fusion 360 and I've recently created the surface of a car in Sculpt mode. 'Surfacing' is it? Well now I want to make a 2D drawing out of it and I cant because there was an error stating it has 'no solid bodies'. How do I convert or create a solid body?

Hi IddinYazid,

Welcome to the forum!

Drawings will only include solid bodies. It seem like what you currently have are open surfaces. In order to convert these into a solid, you could use the Thicken command under Create menu. The resulting geometry can then be documented. Here is a short video tthat demonstrates this: https://knowledge.autodesk.com/community/screencast/1f99dcee-df04-4e7e-95fe-0c21858398f4

Let us know if this will work for you.

Thanks,

Krithika

Tried that and it says it couldn't be offset. Tried it one surface at a time too. Some works some don't 😕

If the form. You created is not a closed"watertight" shape it will show up in the browser as an open surface body with an orange split cylindrical surface. In that case, as mentioned already you can try to use the thicken command to give it volume/thickness.

then you have to turn the body, which should show up in the browser with a white cube-like icon, into a component.  Only components can be turned into 2D drawings.

Your explanation is perfect 🙂 But I'm still stuck on the thicken command. It works only on some surfaces and not all. An error will pop up

Can you post some pics of the problem surfaces? My guess would be that you need to split these surfaces up so they will thicken and then recombine them.

Based on your pic that you posted I think things would work better if you split the model into pieces...like the fenders...hood..C pillars...bumpers...

@Anonymous

Did you use T-Splines to make this? If so go back into sculpting and thicken the T-Spline bodies.

I'm not sure what a t-spline is but I'm pretty sure it worked! Thank you :DDD
