2D CAD drawing on MacBookPRO - shopping for program

Hello,

Attaching one of my 2D drawings as a jpeg.  The original .cdr drawing was created on a PC using CorelDRAW 14.

Would you please recommend a similar program for MacBookPRO that will:
  • Allow easy use of old .cdr files
  • Allow me to import a black-and-white drawing and change it into a vector object that can have outline or fill.
  • Allow me to work in layers, mask, stretch or squeeze text, use envelopes, and use powerclip.
  • Finally I must be able to save my new files so that they can be opened by someone using CorelDRAW 16, and must be able to use CorelDRAW 16 files that they send to me.

What do you recommend?

Inkscape will hit some of your requirements. Plug-ins are platform depended as the software itself, so I don't have high hopes for this topic. .cdr files could be converted into .svg files, if this works for you.

Virtualbox, VmWare or Parallels might be the solution for you that will fulfill the most of your requirements. But this requires a windows license, virus protection, firewall and for some virtual machines licences for the software itself, too

Edit: Adobe Illustrator is of course a solution to, but I guess it will hit more or less the same requirements then Inkscape does.
