Fusion 360 giving error message Live link failed. Reason: "Failed to connect. Could not get a scene api. Please check your Keyshot installation."

@Anonymous I get this message when have installed only KeyShot plugin and not the KeyShot software. Can you check if KeyShot software is installed and working ? This extension will work only if KeyShot is installed. Link to download the software is present in description of KeyShot 9 Autodesk Fusion 360 Plugin.

Hi I got the same error message.. when I'm trying to export model from Fusion 360 to Keyshot 9.0 pro 

this is the message: 

and after I read the solution I checked the settings in Keyshot 9 and the Live linking is Enabled... 

This is PRTSCRN from my settings.

Do you know how to fix this problem?

If you're getting the "could not get scene api" problem, try this:

On a Windows PC, enter the Registry Editor by hitting the 'Windows' Key and typing 'Reged'. Check the Registry Entry for: Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Luxion\KeyShot. Confirm that 'ResourceFolder' and 'Resources' lead to the same file path. If not, confirm where Resources are located and then edit the Registry to match that exact filepath by right-clicking the wrong entries and selecting 'modify'.

Kudos go to a Chinese website I stumbled upon:

I'm using the newly released KeyShot 11 with a subscription license on Windows 11 Pro.

I manually added the string values "ResourceFolder" and "Resources" stated above to the also stated above "Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Luxion\KeyShot" registry folder (Note: the folder will be named with the KeyShot main version attached, i.e.: "...\Luxion\KeyShot 11".

Add the path from the KeyShot preferences "Folders" pane under "Specifiy location for all Folders > Resources" (see screenshots) and you should immediately be ready to go.

Hey!

i think i have tried every possible way to make the plugin work... without success. Im on the latest versions of fusion360 and keyshot 2024.1. The error message "Live link failed..." still occurs. Help would be much appriciated 😉.

Edit: Oh my! I just found the new plugin on the keyshot website and everything is fine!
