Feature request: Notifying users about available updates of installed add-ins

Hello,

As a developer, when I update my program I love to notify the customers as soon as possible, especially when the update is about fixing some bugs. For my Fusion 360 add-ins, all I can do is to send emails to the customers who have bought my add-in from Autodesk App Store. As you know sending bulk emails will have its own drawbacks and risks. I think it will be nice if the Fusion 360 notifies the users about available updates of installed add-ins just inside the program. Something like App-Store and Google Play notifications about available updates of installed apps or like WordPress notifications about available updates of installed plugins.

I also think it is not enough to just notify the users. It'll be better to give them the option to update the add-ins just inside the Fusion 360 program.

There is an existing Autodesk tool that currently is only supported on Windows so it doesn't comes with Fusion. It displays a list of all of the apps you've installed from the App Store and shows you if they're up to date or not.  It will take you directly to the App Store page for an app so you can update it if you want.  I know it's not exactly what you were looking for but It's the closest thing that currently exists that I'm aware of.  I've attached the tool because it is a standalone program and can be run on its own.

Many thanks for sending this useful tool. As a customer it really helps keepi add-ins and plugins up to date.

What is your suggestion for developers who update their add-ins? For example I removed a bug from my Fusion 360 add-in. The bug roots in the internal system of Fusion 360 (defect UP-30784) and affects all users who use "inch" or "foot" as active units of their design. Do you suggest I send emails to all customers who have bought my add-in from Autodesk app store and notify them about available update of my add-in (Of course after it is published. Currently it is in "pending review" state)?

I think the only option today is to download the list of those that have downloaded your add-in and email them that there's an update available.  I don't know if they're considering other options for the store or not.  There's also the possibility that how the location of scripts and add-ins for Fusion could change in the future so that they're synced on A360 and possibly updated automatically from the App Store.  These are all just ideas at this point so don't plan on any of these in the near future.
