Add-In trouble

I have added a video to explain my problem and the code to go with it.

The code works when I create something in F360 but if I bring in a step file from a website it does not.

I didn't try running your code, but from watching your video, I can see in the first case, the design is set to capture the design history, and in the second case, it is not. In the imported file, right-click on the browser's top node, choose the "Capture Design History" command, and then see if it works.
