404 error in API help

Hello there!

Why behaviour on help page is so wierd, see video plz - http://autode.sk/2yHgL9O

I could open some of API help pages in new tab in my browser (I have tried different - effect the same everywhere).

But if I open the same link just click on that link - it works fine.

This is very annoying.

Hello,

Thank you for reporting the issue. I can reproduce the issue and will log a defect in our internal system to track it.

Thanks,

Marshal

just a heads up that I have some other issues with the website:

 - I often have a completely deactivated page with a spinner in front of the text

Capture d’écran 2017-10-01 à 13.34.54.pngCapture d’écran 2017-10-01 à 13.36.20.png

 - middle click/control click doesn't open in a new page, it's a mandatory feature for API docs.

 - the API reference documentation is way too deep down the navigation tree of content, it makes it very hard to navigate. I know the marketing department has its hands on the company and they don't find API docs sexy, but please, separate the reference doc and make them easily navigable and searchable. They are unsexy but big and very important.

 - (real work) cross reference the API user documentation from the reference. Every single time a class or function is mentioned in the user documentation, there would be a pointer to that page from the reference page of the used class or function. There are currently pointers towards the examples, but pointers towards the user documentation would be really helpful.

Thanks,

Nicolas.

Hello, everyone!

I have this both problems too. I tried to use Chrome and Firefox with same result.

Regarding the initial 404 error that was reported, I know the cause but don't have a solution yet.  I need to work with the team that provides the help system architecture to better understand how it works.  I'm hoping there's an easy solution but otherwise I have some work to do on my side.

About the spinner appearing when opening some pages.  I'm also seeing that and it's something new that must have changed in the help system because the API content hasn't changed since it was last working.  I'll need to check on that with them too.

Finally regarding nraynaud's comments above, can you please provide some specific examples so it's clear what it is you would like to see done?

I confirmed with the help platform team that they pushed a change to the help system in the last few days and it must be the cause of this problem.  They're looking into it now.  As an alternative until it's fixed, the full API help is also available as a chm file.

Great news everyone.  The help team were very proactive in identifying and fixing the problem and they've already deployed the fix.  You'll probably need to clear your browser's cache to get the fix.  I know I had to with Chrome before it started working correctly.

I tested it using Chrome and Firefox. All working fine now except DropDownCommandInput page! Thanks to devs team for good job!

Update: links from list in left side of the manual page can't be opened in new tab. Links from body of the manual page can be opened correctly.

Hi Brian,

here is a perfect example. I was looking around the API for a way to save data from my addin to the user document (I even started saving JSON in a user parameter comment).

I found the solution 2 minutes ago: attributes. I had seen the attributes property before in the API reference, but hadn't understood what it was. Having a link from the attribute property page to the user manual chapter on attributes would probably have helped me discover it sooner.

thanks,

Nicolas.

The entire Fusion 360 help system seems to be having problems.  Here's something that might help.
