More sophisticated sketch pattern tools

More sophisticated sketch pattern tools

Fusion would benefit tremendously from a set of sophisticated 2d patten tools similar to what can be found in Solidworks' Fill Pattern.

Fill Pattern allows you to fill a surface or section of surface with an evenly spaced pattern of holes. Those holes can be gridded, diagridded, staggered, radiating, spiraling, scaling etc.

This would be especially useful for venting, grills, surface patterns etc.

I was just going to suggest this! Totally something I miss and an opportunity to make it even better than solidworks. (maybe the ability to add equation driven patterns. There is room in design to make better patterns than the standard stuff)

Indeed, mjobson32cfl !

The ability to add equation driven patterns would be ideal! It shouldn't take a lot of effort to develop equation driven patterning which would allow for complex patterns like phyllotaxic spirals and blooms.  Curve/ramp/image map driven patterning would be pretty nice too.

I've often wished Fusion 360's sketch had a lot more power. NX/Unigraphics allowed me to create complex patterns of points along lines and curves in 2D and 3D space, which I could then use to autopopulate a ton of geometry. Nothing of the sort exists for F360. Its Sketch tool is definitely has a lot of growing up to do.

Coming from Solidworks, I find that an equivalent of "fill pattern" as a sketch or feature tool is missing. I use this to make grills, vents, etc.

Status changed to: Future Consideration

Thank you for your idea, this is getting changed to future consideration.  We will evaluate all the pattern enhancements as a project to be done some time in the future.

I have to firmly agree with the necessity of this feature. Having clocked more than 10,000 hours into solidworks, the fill pattern is the most missed feature I have so far. My work around to create even simple diagonal perforation in sheet steel decking is very time consuming.

Has there been any progress on this? I am looking to use the "fill pattern" command or sketch driven parameters to drive a CAM operation.
