The SVG import in sketches is great but we've had a lot of issues importing SVGs generated by Adobe Illustrator. If you have a coding intern who needs a project, perhaps going in there and making a few reference designs with text and curves then exporting to SVG with as many combinations of options possible and getting the importer to correctly support those files (and make failing non-silent) would be very worthwhile and appreciated.
Separate but related - a built in autovectorization system might be very cool (although a bit harder.. though I think Autodesk actually has a library for it prebuilt if you poke around). This would be especially useful for people who don't understand the difference between bitmap and vector formats (getting a rough vector approximation of bitmapped black on white text or logos would be nice) and I'm sure there are plenty of hobbiests out there with 3D printers in search of something to do with them who would love to be able to take a photograph, play with the edge detection and vectorization parameters, and then make some cool 3D structures out of that.
