before i get into what my ideas for fusion 360 are i figured i would freface this with what i do/why fusion360 is such a big deal to me. I'm in charge of all CAD on my FIRST FTC team 3415 Lancer Robotics, last year we placed 9th in the world and won think award for best engineering notebook. In the past when team members would cad assemblies of our robot they would upload them into a google drive (I know not the ideal software, but that wasnt my choice) this led to many complications such as messing up the file paths of the assemblies and corrupting files all together. fusion360 fixes that and its great I'm a huge fan of the product and everything it is capable of. That being said, there are a lot of things that need fixing/ need to be added. and here are my ideas.
Drawings:
- custom sheet sizes for drawings
- custom title blocks for drawings
- being able to save sheets as templates
- being able to put multiple parts into one drawing
- being able to put both parts and assemblies in one drawing
- before exporting to pdf ask whether or not they want one save in fusion
- the ablity to set custom text sizes
assemblies:
- ability to mirror
- being able to mirror without creating new parts ( in inventor when you would mirror it would make a new version of the part called "*insert name here*_MIR") what if you could mirror the same way you can copy and paste, so it would be the same as just adding a part to your assembly
- being able to constrain again, i love joints but some times a constraint just get the job done much faster
UI
- a seperate tab for sketch mode
- text under the icons in the ribbon so that you know what icon does what
- when you click on the view cube it should center the assembly
- ability to personize the ribbon ( i personally prefer the inventor taskbar with the ribons and tabs format) but give people the option to do more than just add the drop down icons to the ribbon
Simulation
- center of gravity/center of mass
