Duplicate Sketch/Body/etc

Duplicate Sketch/Body/etc

I know that in Fusion 360 sketches/bodies/etc can be copied/pasted somehow. But its not so simple to make even if it looks simple.

It would be great if objects could be duplicated by only right click on sidebar as a new component or on the same components.

When I draw a complex sketch then make an object for instance by sweep. The I want to make a new version of my design in order to improve  it and compare it. So I copy/paste object. But when I change the sketch it effects both bodies, so I have to make a copy of that sketch and repeat same sweep operation.

I know sometimes it would be not enough to just copy it because it may have a link to a body, so it can just break the link in order not to have the errors. Thanks.

I advised in your other request you ask questions first before posting on the ideastation and this is another one where it's already possible.

Use a component to create your parts. Create and activate the component then make sure all sketches and features are contained in the component and use Copy\Paste New to create a totally independent copy will all features and sketches.

As a beginner please ask questions in the Design forum before posts on the ideastation as there's a good chance something simple is already in Fusion. If you're unlucky no one will see your post here and you might have to wait ages for something you can do now.

Though, it does seem like a simple duplication of a sketch might be less taxing on a system than duplicating the entire component. I agree you can get to the store by walking around the block, but alleys are nice too..

This sounds easy until you start thinking about history and dependencies. If you disable history in Fusion now you can copy sketches in the browser. With history what are you expecting, for example do you want to be able to reorientate the sketch plane and what would happen to projections. What happens if you paste the sketch later in the timeline and faces\edges referenced in the sketch no longer exist or been moved? You can start to see why it only works without history when you add a bit of complexity.

Dear Mark, I know that you know how this software works and how it's being built. I updated to the latest version but the problem is not solved. As epic41 said it's it's simpler to use alleys which prefer people to walk towards their targets. You might think that I'm 13 year old beginner, or a newbie to the 3D software. But I'd like to say that I'm 35 with 16 year old experience in almost all design fields, especially in UI/UX design, besides I know how to work on Maya, Cinema 4D, Modo, etc. Well they are not may seem to be handy as an engineering software, but I think engineering softwares sometimes must copy some handy features in order to save the time of a user. And they already formed some UI and UX habits.
