Custom Drawing Title Block

Custom Drawing Title Block

There should be an option to create custom drawing title blocks. I want to create a drawing but do not need all of the information shown in the current title block. There should be a way to at least select what information shows in the title block.

This is one of the main features stopping me from switching from solidworks.

I need to be able to repliacte or import my existing title block, including company logo.

Even to be able to import it as a jpeg, png or DXF would be great.

I could not agreed more , if possible should let the user have imported a standard drawing  template .

Hi @Anonymous, @cwliendnt and @Anonymous,

Although I can't provide a delivery date just yet, the drawings team are working on a feature that will allow you to import a DWG file containing your title block (including the logo) which will replace the out of the box ISO and ASME title blocks. In addition to this, we are also working on templates which will allow you to save your own drawing configurations (including imported title blocks) and use them when creating new drawings. Both features are in the early stages of development, but they are coming.

I hope this helps.

Thanks,

Andrew

At the least, I would love to be able to just delete the entire format, or hide it. Takes up way to much space when all I want to do is see the design on paper to sketch over it.

Following up on this as well. On a project currently and had no idea this couldn't be done. Will need to use another tool to finish the drawing, which is a shame becasue Fusion has so many other positive features going for it. As much as I hate drawings and would love for them to go away, the reality is we still need to deal with them and produce them as deliverables, and will therefore need the same capabilities that Inventor currently offers.

Thanks, that'd be awesome... just adding my support to this idea !

My solution so far has been to import the PDF into any vector drawing tool like Inkscape, and rework the drawing from there to delete the off-the-box title box and add my own with logo included, so I'd very much apreciate avoiding the 2-step procedure.

Please, ensure that one will be able to do image import as well (for logos). This is not said in the main idea description, but it's on the comments by many people and now by me 😉

Check out, this one is already accepted with similar requests: https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/ideastation-request-a-feature-or/ideas-for-drawings-multipage-and-tit...

Multipage would be also really useful.

And finally, I just found from another thread, that this is going on too:

The drawing enhancements are coming along fine and I can't wait for more but can we have our own template that has been customized from the selection in fusion and bring it in from a directory that has been saved as drawing templates. I would like to see a template for each project with the basic info so that only variables need to added to suit the part /component that are being detailed, also can we have dimensions in  red instead of black.

Hey @Anonymous,

I just wanted to follow up with you on this idea to make sure you're aware that we added a new feature in the July 22nd update of Fusion 360 that allows you to insert an image/Logo into a title block. We are continuing to work on enhancing the title block experience, and you can expect to be able to upload your own dwg title block for use in Drawings in an update soon as well - but I hope that the ability to add in a logo is also helpful in the meantime.

For more information on this new feature, check out the help section: http://fusion360.autodesk.com/learning/learning.html?guid=GUID-B4BC813B-8697-4632-B57E-AC1E582E8C7A

Let us know your thoughts / questions / concerns, and thanks for contributing to the community!

 Hi all,

I also agree that a customizable titleblock is urgently needed.

I am currently missing the options to fill in many options:

- material

- treatment

- general tolerances (through norm reference or manually chosen)

- general roughness

- general drawing scale

- projection method (US / European)

- etc...

Please keep me updated on when this will be possible (rather sooner than later).

Regards,

Dirk

Just chiming in to help prioritize this feature, this would make things a lot easier.

Patiently waiting for this feature, at the moment I simply populate the information I need into the pre-made categories but I'm sure you can imagine how confusing this could be on an actual print.

Hi @Anonymous,

Thanks for following back up on this with us and keeping us honest 🙂

The team is wrapping up the next phase of Title Block enhancements now, which will allow you to bring in an existing .dwg titleblock for reuse. The phase after that will be addressing the actual authoring of custom title blocks in Fusion. I hope that's encouraging for you to hear, and thanks again for chiming back in on this.

Hey guys, we just released a feature in drawings where you can insert your own DWG title-block. Let us know how this works for you. We are working on refining this experience for future updates.

Since autodesk has added the ability to use a DWG file for a custom title block, can they make a youtube video showing how to make that DWG file scaled to the correct dimensions for the drawings to replace the title block? thanks

jeremy.goldman

Hey @Anonymous,

Scaling works at 1:1 when you're bringing a DWG file from AutoCAD into the Fusion Drawings workspace, and uses whatever units your Insertion Scale is set to in AutoCAD (in the UNITS command dialog). So, if you have a title block that's set as 7in x 3in in AutoCAD, it'll show up that size in Fusion.

If you're looking to create a title block that has the same dimensions as the default title blocks in Fusion Drawings, the ASME one is 7.74in x 2.5in and the ISO one is 180mm x 47mm.

Does this help?

Best,

Jeremy (from the Fusion team)

Hey folks,

We posted a Quick Tips video on how to insert your own DWG file as a title block into Fusion drawings. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7-7jLmof7A4&feature=youtu.be. Hope this helps!
