Bilateral Symmetric Sketch Offset
The offset tool should have a symmetric/bilateral function that allows you to offset both sides of the geometry. For example, I am modeling slots that are about a midline measurement. In order to extrude the slot, I have to do the offset function twice for each slot. It would be a real time saver and far less of a headache if I could spend less time with the offset tool. These slots are not patternable so it makes the workflow tedious.
Are you talking about extruding in two directions or using the offset tool to do a extrude in 2 directions or is this the sketch tool you are talking about ??????????
Good question. I am talking about the sketch tool. If you want to make an offset sketch on both sides of geometry than you have to go through the tool twice. In addition, all offset sketches will have no way to specify which side of the geometry that the offset is on. There is a button to click on but it just interrupts the workflow and could be easily made better.
The slot tool is a few more steps for my workflow. It just seems reasonable to have a radio button on the offset tool menu to activate a symmetric bilateral offset.
